Derslerde öğrendiğin kuralların hepsi burada. Takıldığında dönüp bakabilirsin.
| Konu | Kural | Örnek |
|---|---|---|
| Devrik yapı | olumsuz/kısıtlayıcı zarf başta → yardımcı fiil + özne | Never have I seen such a view. |
| Cleft cümleler | It is/was … who/that · What … is · All … is | It was Ali who broke it. What I need is rest. |
| Participle clauses | -ing (aktif) · Having + V3 (önce) · V3 (edilgen); özneler aynı olmalı | Having finished, he left. |
| İleri modallar | needn't have V3 · had better (not) V1 · be bound to · might as well | You needn't have come. |
| İleri koşullar | Should you… · Were I to… · Had I… · unless · but for | Had I known, I'd have told you. |
| Subjunctive | suggest / vital that + yalın fiil · It's time + past · would rather + past | I suggest he be on time. |
| Ellipsis ve substitution | So do I · Neither can I · I hope not · one/ones · do so · I'd love to | I can't, but she can. |
| Hedging | seem/appear to · It would appear that · tend to · likely to · may/could | It would appear that we were wrong. |
Olumsuz ya da kısıtlayıcı bir zarf cümlenin başına gelince soru düzeni kullanılır: Never have I seen…, Rarely does he complain, Not only did she win…, No sooner had we arrived than…, Hardly had we started when…, Only then did I realise…, Under no circumstances should you…
Cleft (yarık) cümleler bir öğeyi öne çıkarır: It was Ali who broke the window. (Pencereyi kıran Ali'ydi.) What I need is a holiday. All I want is some peace.
Türkçede vurguyu kelime sırasıyla ve “-an/-en” ile yaparız (kıran Ali'ydi). İngilizcede ya devrik yapı ya da it / what ile cleft gerekir.
Never have I seen such a beautiful view.
Hiç bu kadar güzel bir manzara görmedim.
Not only did she win, but she also broke the record.
Sadece kazanmakla kalmadı, rekoru da kırdı.
It was my brother who called you.
Seni arayan kardeşimdi.
Devrik yapıda yardımcı fiili unutma: “Never I have seen” ✗, “Rarely he complains” ✗.
-ing ile kurulan participle clause aynı anda olan ya da sebep bildiren aktif bir eylemdir: Walking home, I saw an accident. (Eve yürürken…) Feeling tired, she went to bed. (Yorgun hissettiği için…)
Having + V3 önce tamamlanan eylemi gösterir: Having finished the report, he went home. V3 ise edilgendir: Written in 1990, the book is still popular. İsimden sonra relative clause kısaltması: the woman sitting next to me, the car stolen last week.
Altın kural: participle clause'un öznesi ana cümlenin öznesiyle aynı olmalı. “Walking home, the rain started” ✗ — yağmur yürümüyor! Türkçedeki -erek / -ince / -ken eklerinde bu kısıt yok, o yüzden bu hata çok yapılır.
Having finished the report, he went home.
Raporu bitirdikten sonra eve gitti.
Written in 1990, the book is still popular.
1990'da yazılan kitap hâlâ popüler.
Not knowing what to say, he stayed silent.
Ne diyeceğini bilemeyince sessiz kaldı.
İki cümlenin öznesi aynı mı? Değilse participle clause kurma.
needn't have + V3 = yaptın ama gereksizdi: You needn't have brought food; we had plenty. didn't need to + V1 ise sadece gerek olmadığını söyler (genelde yapılmamıştır).
had better + V1 = …-sen iyi olur (yoksa kötü sonuç): You'd better leave now. Olumsuz: had better not (to yok!). would rather + V1 = tercih etmek: I'd rather not talk about it.
be bound to + V1 = kesin …-ecek: With this traffic, we're bound to be late. might as well + V1 = başka iyi seçenek yok, …-sek de olur: The bus has gone; we might as well walk.
You needn't have brought food; we had plenty.
Yiyecek getirmene gerek yoktu; bol bol vardı.
You'd better leave before it gets dark.
Hava kararmadan çıksan iyi olur.
We might as well go home.
Eve gitsek de olur.
had better ve would rather'dan sonra asla “to” gelmez: You'd better go, I'd rather stay.
Devrik koşul: Should you need help (olası), Were I you / Were I to resign (hayali), Had I known (geçmiş). unless = if not, provided / as long as = şartıyla, but for / if it weren't for = olmasa.
suggest / insist / demand / recommend that ve It's vital / essential that → özne + yalın fiil: I recommend that she see a specialist. İngiliz İngilizcesinde should + V1 de olur.
Şimdi anlamlı geçmiş zaman: It's (high) time we left, I'd rather you didn't tell anyone. Kalıplar: So be it, Be that as it may.
Should you need assistance, let us know.
Yardıma ihtiyacınız olursa bize bildirin.
I recommend that she see a specialist.
Bir uzmana görünmesini tavsiye ederim.
It's high time we made a decision.
Artık bir karar vermemizin vakti geldi.
Fiilin biçimine bak: yalın fiil (be, see) → subjunctive; Had/Were/Should başta → devrik koşul.
Ellipsis ve substitution tekrarı önler: So do I / Neither can I, I think so / I hope not, the blue one, do so, I can't, but she can, I'd love to.
Hedging iddiayı yumuşatır: seem / appear to, It would appear that…, tend to, be likely / unlikely to, may / might / could, to some extent, arguably.
Türkçede “Ben de”, “Sanırım”, “Galiba” tek başına yeter; İngilizcede yardımcı fiil, so / not, to gibi küçük kelimeler cümlenin iskeletini korur.
I haven't seen it. — Neither have I.
Görmedim. — Ben de.
The evidence appears to suggest a link.
Kanıtlar bir bağlantıya işaret ediyor gibi görünüyor.
Young people tend to take risks.
Gençler risk alma eğilimindedir.
Kısa cevaplarda son kelimeyi kontrol et: so, not, to ya da bir yardımcı fiil olmalı.
Bu son derste C1'in bütün konuları karışık geliyor: devrik yapı, cleft cümleler, participle clauses, ileri modallar, ileri koşullar, subjunctive, ellipsis ve hedging.
Her soruda önce ipucunu ara: cümle başında Never / Rarely / Not only → devrik; Had / Were / Should başta → koşul; suggest / vital that → yalın fiil; It's time / I'd rather you → past; kısa cevap → yardımcı fiil, so, not ya da to.
Seldom have I heard such nonsense.
Böyle bir saçmalığı nadiren duydum.
Shocked by the news, she couldn't speak.
Haberle şoke olunca konuşamadı.
Had it not been for your help, we'd have failed.
Senin yardımın olmasaydı başarısız olurduk.
