| Cevap | gerçeğe göre Yes / No | You aren't tired, are you? — No, I'm not. |
to be ile: You're tired, aren't you? She isn't here, is she? They were late, weren't they?
Tag'de özne her zaman bir zamirdir: Ali is a doctor, isn't he? (isn't Ali ✗). The film was good, wasn't it?
It's a beautiful day, isn't it?
Güzel bir gün, değil mi?
You aren't busy, are you?
Meşgul değilsin, değil mi?
The film was great, wasn't it?
Film harikaydı, değil mi?
Türklerin tipik hatası her cümleye “isn't it?” eklemek: “You are a student, isn't it?” ✗ → You are a student, aren't you? ✓ Tag'deki fiil ve zamir cümleyle uyumlu olmalı.
Cümlede yardımcı fiil yoksa (Simple Present, Simple Past), tag'de do / does / did kullanılır — tıpkı soru yaparken olduğu gibi.
Simple Present: You live here, don't you? She works at a bank, doesn't she? They don't eat meat, do they?
Simple Past: You saw the film, didn't you? He didn't call, did he?
Dikkat: ana fiil tag'de tekrar edilmez. “You like tea, like you?” ✗ → You like tea, don't you? ✓
You like coffee, don't you?
Kahve seversin, değil mi?
Ayşe speaks German, doesn't she?
Ayşe Almanca konuşuyor, değil mi?
You didn't lock the door, did you?
Kapıyı kilitlemedin, değil mi?
Fiil -s ile bitiyorsa (works, lives) → doesn't; geçmiş zamandaysa (went, saw, played) → didn't. Olumsuzda: don't → do, doesn't → does, didn't → did.
Cümlede bir yardımcı fiil varsa (have, has, can, will, would, should, could, must…), tag'de aynı yardımcı fiil kullanılır.
You've been to Rome, haven't you? She can swim, can't she? It won't rain, will it? We should go, shouldn't we?
Tag'de her zaman kısaltma kullanılır: will not → won't, can not → can't. “will not it?” ✗
Present Perfect'te have / has yardımcı fiildir, do kullanılmaz: He has finished, hasn't he? (doesn't he ✗). Continuous zamanlarda be: You're working, aren't you? He was sleeping, wasn't he?
You can drive, can't you?
Araba kullanabilirsin, değil mi?
She has already left, hasn't she?
Çoktan gitti, değil mi?
It won't take long, will it?
Uzun sürmez, değil mi?
Tag'i bulmak için kendine sor: “Bu cümleyi soru yapsam başa ne gelirdi?” Can she…? → can't she? Has he…? → hasn't he? Does she…? → doesn't she?
I am → aren't I? (amn't I ✗): I'm late, aren't I? Olumsuzda normal: I'm not late, am I?
Let's → shall we?: Let's go, shall we? (Gidelim, olur mu?) Emir cümleleri → will you? (rica ya da uyarı): Close the door, will you? Don't be late, will you?
There is / there are → tag'de de there: There's a problem, isn't there? There aren't any eggs, are there?
never, nobody, nothing cümleyi olumsuz yapar → tag olumlu olur: You never call me, do you? Nothing happened, did it? everyone, nobody, somebody → tag'de they: Everyone was happy, weren't they?
I'm right, aren't I?
Haklıyım, değil mi?
Let's take a taxi, shall we?
Taksiye binelim, olur mu?
Nobody saw us, did they?
Kimse bizi görmedi, değil mi?
Türkçede “Kimse gelmedi” deriz, olumsuzluk fiilde görünür. İngilizcede Nobody came cümlesinde fiil olumlu görünür ama anlam olumsuzdur; bu yüzden tag olumlu olur: Nobody came, did they?
Tag'e cevap verirken gerçeğe göre Yes ya da No dersin, cümlenin şekline göre değil: It's cold, isn't it? — Yes, it is. (Soğuk.) / No, it isn't. (Soğuk değil.)
Türkçe tuzak: Türkçede olumsuz soruya “Evet, değilim” diyerek onaylarız: “Yorgun değilsin, değil mi?” — “Evet, değilim.” İngilizcede ise yorgun değilsen No dersin: You aren't tired, are you? — No, I'm not. Yorgunsan: Yes, I am.
Kısa cevapta da tag gibi yardımcı fiil kullanılır: Yes, I do. / No, she can't. / Yes, they have.
Tonlama: Tag'de ses aşağı inerse (↘) aslında emin olduğun bir şeyi onaylatıyorsun: Nice day, isn't it? ↘. Ses yukarı çıkarsa (↗) gerçekten soruyorsun: You've paid, haven't you? ↗
You don't smoke, do you? — No, I don't.
Sigara içmiyorsun, değil mi? — Evet, içmiyorum.
It's hot today, isn't it? — Yes, it is.
Bugün hava sıcak, değil mi? — Evet, sıcak.
She can cook well, can't she? — Yes, she can.
İyi yemek yapar, değil mi? — Evet, yapar.
Unutma: İngilizcede Yes = olumlu durum, No = olumsuz durum. “You don't smoke, do you?” — Sigara içmiyorsan cevap No, I don't. (Türkçede “Evet, içmiyorum.”)
Bu derste question tag'lerle ilgili her şeyi karışık olarak tekrar edeceksin.
Olumlu cümle → olumsuz tag, olumsuz cümle → olumlu tag. Yardımcı fiil varsa onu kullan (is, have, can, will…), yoksa do / does / did. Tag'de hep zamir.
Özel durumlar: I'm → aren't I?, Let's → shall we?, emir → will you?, there is → isn't there?, nobody / never → olumlu tag. Cevapta Yes / No gerçeğe göre.
